A tip for success
we all know the web is addictive, informative and entertaining, and its quite easy to get distracted from your work online, I suggest the newbie, before sitting down at the computer , physically write down what they want to get done that session, , then start at the beginning, work through your list to the end, then get distracted , this may sound simple, basic and obvious , yet few people do it,

Hi Chris,
I can confirm that it's very good advice. My most productive sessions are almost always the ones where I write a clear To Do list on a piece of paper before I turn on the computer... If you don't plan what you want to accomplish you will most likely get sidetracked several times over... Also, when you see something that you want to follow up on, you can always bookmark the page and go back to it later, after you've crossed two or three items off your list... |

Wow, such a simple but highly effective tip. Thanks for sharing.
PS I only found out after a couple of hours sidetracked on Facebook, email and Twitter. Sigh. |

To be in business...you must think business.....
Do the things that are intended to improve your knowledge or your business.... If you worked in a store ...you would have to work your entire shift....without being distracted by "playing games, etc.".... Internet business is no different.... If you "plan" to have some degree of success...

thank you for these valuable info
I think that building your list for newbies is the best as this learns them to get traffic and it's strategies also to know other marketers and buyers |

Building your list is very important to your success with internet marketing. If you treat your list like gold and give more than you take then they will be very responsive whenever you show them an offer.

Often when I am in 'work mode' I switch off the wifi and get on with articles or videos without the temptation of spending hours on a forum like this.
That's the problem...you have made this such a big temptation! Seriously, reading up about IM and mess-arsing about online is the 'reward' for me when I have ticked through my daily list. |

Sound advice. However always good to build in a bit of slack. The stay creative and pick up new ideas your mind needs to wander now and then. Also even though we are all going to be very business like about this, we dont want it to become too much like a real job.....do we... ![]() gog |

A good resource for studying how to get things done is Steven Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
He recommends that instead of making a single To Do list, you should make a "time management matrix" and divide your projects and activities into four sections according to whether each job is "important/not important" and "urgent/not urgent" 1 = urgent & important - get them done first! 2 = not urgent but important - your big projects: make time for these. 3 = urgent but not important - interruptions, pressing matters, popular activities. 4 = not urgent & not important - trivia, time wasters, etc. Reduce time spent on this stuff! Thinking about things in this way will help you to prioritize your activities. There is a wealth of information in the book and it is well worth reading. |
