i think you should learn Search Engine Optimization because there is a lot of resources for get high traffic but it may cause danger for your website and if you use SEO techniques so i guaranteed you will get unique and original traffic not spam and it will very helpfull for you.

There are literally hundreds of ways to drive traffic. There are videos, press releases, articles, PPC, ads, hundreds of other ways, It all comes down to what your budget is.

Build quality backlinks behind your site,get a good page rank and this will help you to get organic traffic.

If you new to internet marketing I'd steer clear of paid advertising to begin with. There are two reasons for this:

1 The paid ads on the right of a search page get about 1/2% of clicks, the paid ads on the top of the page get about 2/6% of clicks. The top organic search results get 10/30% of clicks so you can get the traffic you need organically.

2 You can lose an awful lot of money on PPC if you don't know what your doing.

Pick say three strategies e.g social bookmarking, article marketing and backlinks from relevant blogs. Test to see which is getting the best results and then ramp up that strategy.

Len Foster's list is a good one.

I do recommend link exchanges for building traffic. It is low quality traffic but visits to your site do get "noticed".

A link exchange is a site that provided incentives for people to visit each other sites. The more sites you visit the more people are encouraged to visit your site. That is why the quality is so low because people are going to the site mostly to get visit credits. That being said, if you have a compelling sites, those visitors will stay.

I'm a newbie to this forum (not to IM though) and so I'm not posting links nor recommending any specific link exchange sites but there may be some resources here already that a more senior member has suggested.

its the old list quality and unique content on your site, article marketing, forum and blog posting etc etc its all about making yourself stand out from the crowd being new and different on the internet. Consistant activity will bring results over time
