White, all gradations of gray and all gradations of blue. I like these colors because the site looks professional, serious and clean

well it depends on what kind of website you are going to make. But for me, I'm always attracted to power blue and orange. Coffee color scheme is my taste of color too.

Soft earth tones gives a sense of calm. You want to make your site visitors comfortable. Do your own site searching for your niche, find out what makes you feel good and which colors turn you off.

as you said - "Totally depends on the theme"
there can really be no answer to this question without discussing the theme ... medical = soft baby blues ... nature = greens ... tech = black + edgy/electric ... spiritual = yellows/oranges/white ... etc.. side note: if you can't bounce around from palette to palette - learn it is a necessity to be able to see through different shades and 'FEEL' the niche through different colors. njoy . |

Dark blue and complimentary blues and white still give the most 'professional' appearance. However they are heavily overused so variations can be effective because the alternate color schemes can provide variety and that can be eye catching enough to keep people on your site longer.
For splash and squeeze pages, stick with with BWRGBY, the primary colors you used in kindergarten. |
