What are trackbacks?
I'm very new to forums and noticed when I reply to a thread it says "Trackback". I input a URL, but why? I don't understand the purpose, benefit, etc. Can someone please explain?
I'm guessing this has something to do with pinging websites to let them know we mentioned them? So is this only used for listing a source? Or do marketers use this to generate trackbacks for their websites? Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks. |
